Estate Tax Vote on Thursday – Call Your Senators Today!
Jun 6, 2006 --
Thanks to all of you who have participated in our Estate Tax Action Alert thus far. NAIFA, the Association for Advanced Life Underwriting and other members of the agent coalition have provided a lot of valuable input to U.S. Senate offices on the issue of estate tax reform versus repeal. For NAIFA members wishing to follow up with a phone call to their Senator(s), AALU has volunteered to underwrite the cost of a telephone patch through program. I urge you to take advantage of this opportunity. Here’s how it works.
Phone Action Alert Directions
Please call your Senators’ offices by dialing the patch-through number at 1-800-409-5179. You will be prompted to relay the following message:
- Please oppose estate tax repeal and reform alternatives that are the same as repeal from a federal revenue standpoint. I am specifically concerned with proposals that would tie the top estate tax rate to capital gains and set a high exemption level.
- Congress needs to prioritize. I support fiscally responsible, permanent and sustainable estate tax reform that eliminates estate tax liability for more than 99.7% of all Americans and allows the remaining few subject to the tax to plan with certainty. A per person exemption of $2.5 to 3.5 million and a top rate of 35% to 45% would do the job.
Calling is easy. (Instructions will be given to you on the phone.) Please do stay on the line and do not hang-up after your first call. You will be automatically transferred to your other U.S. Senator.
Keep in mind that the repeal forces are certain to ramp up their efforts and communication to Hill offices this week and we on the pro-reform side of the debate need to do the same! You can also still send an email to your Senators’ offices through NAIFA's Legislative Action Center at capwiz.com/naifa — select "Estate Tax Action Alert."
You can read the Action Alert at www.naifa.org/advocacy/actionalerts/20060601_estate_tax.cfm.
Thanks again for your continued support and participation.
